When Magic Enters Ones Life
✨ When Letting Go Becomes Something More
Magic in the Midst of a Busy Day
Today was a busy day—but one touched by pure magic.
π©πͺ A Visit from the Past, a Glimpse of the Future
It began with a visit from a young family from Germany who came to pick up a bundle of German children’s books I was decluttering. The couple had three beautiful little ones—ages five and under—and hearing them speak German, watching them laugh and play on our beloved Happy Bear π» Mountain, stirred something deep in me.
For over an hour, we chatted while their children explored all the corners of the world Ron and I built over the past 14 years—the trampoline, the zip line, the swing set, the slide, the treehouse, and the tipi. Each corner whispered memories. It was both joyful and tender—seeing these young parents with their whole future ahead of them, while Ron and I are standing at the threshold of a new chapter.
The laughter of their children echoed our own past—so full of love, joy, and challenges. Letting go of the books felt symbolic. They once filled our shelves, gathering dust… but now, they’ll live again in curious hands and eager little hearts. That, to me, is the most beautiful kind of full circle.
π― Decluttering That Brings Connection
Later in the day, a couple came to look at our air hockey table. It turned out to be the wrong size for them, but even in that short interaction, we uncovered a shared connection—a mutual friend from the past who had since moved away. Another spark of unexpected reconnection.
Next came a brother and sister who drove nearly two hours to pick up an old desk we were giving away. I had noted that it needed some TLC, but they were thrilled. Their joy over something we were letting go of filled me with gratitude. There’s something beautiful about knowing that what we no longer need can still spark someone else’s creativity and excitement.
π₯ A Soulful Encounter
And then—our final exchange of the day—a couple arrived to pick up an electronic drum set. From the moment they stepped out of the car, it was as if four kindred spirits met in perfect harmony. We talked for over an hour and a half—effortlessly, openly, deeply. It was one of those rare soul connections where you just know you’re in the presence of something special.
As our time on this mountain draws closer to its end, meeting them felt both bittersweet and beautiful. Because in this fleeting window, we were reminded that life always holds the potential for new and meaningful relationships—even when you think you’re closing a chapter.
π Remembering a Soul Sister
Today also brought back memories of a most precious soul who once became like a sister to me. We had dreamed of sharing years of friendship—but her passing last year came suddenly and without warning. No goodbyes. No closure. Just a void that still aches.
But would I trade a single moment of our friendship, knowing now how short it would be?
Absolutely not.
Ironically, the couple we met today lives in the same neighborhood she once called home… and carries that same spirit of compassion, kindness, and quiet strength.
π¬ Minimalism with Meaning
So yes—today we decluttered.
But we also connected, shared, and welcomed new friendships.
We probably spoke more hours today than we do in an average week—yet it wasn’t exhausting. It was enriching. It felt right.
Minimalism is not just about having less.
It’s about making space—for joy, for people, for unexpected encounters, and for life itself.
Wishing you a peaceful and wonder-filled Sunday night,
Hugs,
Anke
