One step at a time

🌞 Market Mornings & Closet Marathons

Reflections from a Sunny Day in Colorado

Today was one of those picture-perfect days here in Colorado—blue skies, warm sun, and the joyful buzz that only the start of summer can bring. Even better? Our local Farmers Market season officially opened this morning! πŸ“πŸŒ»

🍳 Rediscovering Joy in the Kitchen

I’ve noticed something interesting: ever since I began decluttering our kitchen—especially the counters—my love for cooking has returned. With more space to move and less visual chaos, cleanup feels easier, and cooking feels joyful again. Simplicity truly is nourishing.

πŸ‘š Tackling the Closet Beast

This afternoon, I turned my attention back to our master bedroom closet—a bit of a marathon project in our house. This space holds far more than just clothes:

Bedding for four bedrooms

A “gift stash”

Gift-wrapping supplies

Extra electronics and cords galore

…you get the picture.

Today I made solid progress—about 75% done—and this closet alone has already sent me on three trips to Goodwill.

Here’s a peek at the transformation:

πŸ–Ό️ The “After” photo comes first—but don’t miss the messy middle! Decluttering is rarely pretty in the process, but the emotional weight that lifts is undeniable. I swear I feel lighter—because, in a way, I am.

πŸ› ️ Tips from Today’s Journey

Whether you’re just starting your own decluttering path or feeling stuck mid-process, here’s some gentle advice from someone deep in the trenches:

1. Start Big for Instant Impact

Begin with your living spaces—big items, big visuals. This gives you quick wins and the motivation to keep going.

2. Save the Tough Stuff for Later

Avoid getting lost in:

πŸ“„ Paperwork

πŸ–Ό️ Photos

πŸ—‚️ Office supplies

These areas are rabbit holes and can steal hours with little visible progress. Tackle them only after you’ve built momentum.

3. Decluttering ≠ Organizing

Let’s be honest—reorganizing clutter just reshuffles the burden. Decluttering means removing items from your home completely. Out of sight, out of mind, out of your way.

4. Write Down Your “Why”

Grab a sticky note and jot down your reason for decluttering—something personal and true.

Tape it to your bathroom mirror.

Let it remind you each morning.

Is it to spend more time with loved ones? To make travel easier? To donate more freely to causes you care about?

Whatever your reason—let it guide you.

πŸ₯— From Market to Table

I’m signing off now to prepare a fresh salad with the beautiful produce I picked up this morning. There’s something deeply satisfying about this full-circle day: simplifying my space, reconnecting with joy, and nourishing myself with intention.

Please feel free to share your thoughts or your own decluttering progress—I’d love to cheer you on.

With warmth and hugs,

Anke
