๐ŸŒฟ When Progress Slows, Reflection Heals

Finishing Touches, Forming Habits, and Finding Meaning

Good afternoon, dear friends,

It’s been a little while, and I hope no one has lost faith in their process.

As for me, I’ve entered a quieter but important phase: tying up loose ends in the rooms I’ve already focused on—the living room, bedroom, closet, guest room, kitchen, bathrooms, office, and library.

Whew. That’s quite a list, isn’t it?

Sometimes when I hit a slump, I simply write down what I have accomplished—and it genuinely helps. Yes, there’s still work ahead, but let’s not lose sight of how far we’ve already come. That deserves a pause… and a bit of pride.

๐Ÿ” This Week’s Focus: Habits Over Haste

This week, our course is all about forming good habits—the kind that keep your space peaceful long after the big purge is done.

Start by identifying your hot spots—the areas where clutter keeps returning.

Think:

  • Kitchen counters
  • Dining room tables
  • Entryway benches
  • The corner of your desk

If you’re finding these spaces messy again just days after you cleared them, you’ve found your target.

๐Ÿงน A Few Simple Habit Shifts:

  • When you’re about to set something down “just for now,” don’t. Return it to its rightful place right away.
  • Sort incoming mail immediately—junk gets tossed, bills go into your office inbox.
  • Wash the dishes right after dinner (yes, even when you’re tired).

☕ My New Evening Habit

I’ll admit, this one was hard for me:

Cleaning the kitchen after dinner.

I used to leave it until the next morning, telling myself I was too tired. But now? I clean up right after we eat. I wipe the counters. I prep the coffee. I leave the kitchen ready for morning light.

When I wake up, I:

  1. Start the coffee
  2. Let the pups out and feed them
  3. Pour a cup and sit down with my journal

✨ No mess. Just quiet. Just me. Just peace.

It’s been transformative. Try it for a week—you might love it too.

๐Ÿ’” Life Isn’t Linear—But It’s Still Ours

On a personal note:

This past month has brought deep heartbreak.

But staying focused on decluttering has grounded me—it’s reminded me what truly matters and what I can control.

We don’t get to choose what happens around us.

But we do choose how we respond.

And when tough decisions are needed, it helps to step back and ask:

๐Ÿ’ญ What is the big picture?

๐Ÿ’ญ What outcome do I truly want?

๐Ÿ’› Be Kind to Yourself

Most of us are our own harshest critics.

But when you take a step back and reflect on everything you’ve already done—

You’ll see something impressive.

You’ve started.

You’ve stuck with it.

And you’re still here, moving forward.

That matters more than perfection ever will.

๐Ÿค Reach Out to Those Who Matter

Before I go, one more gentle nudge:

If there’s someone in your life who once supported you—someone who always had your back—but you haven’t talked to them in a while…

Reach out.

That happened for me this week.

An old friend and her son reached out, and we had an honest, open conversation. It gave me clarity and insight I didn’t even realize I was searching for.

These are the moments that matter most. ♥️

Wishing you a peaceful, grounded weekend.

Stay gentle. Stay steady. Keep going.

Hugs,

Anke
