Dishes everywhere…..

🥣 Dishes, Mugs & Unexpected Joys

Decluttering the Kitchen, One Box at a Time

Hello and greetings,

Today was another full day in the kitchen—this time focusing on dishes, coffee mugs, glassware, and of course… my ever-growing collection of Glühwein mugs. 🎄🍷

I managed to fill six boxes with dishes to pass along. Among today’s most notable releases:

  • A full set of Dallas Cowboys drinking glasses (yes, I know… how did these end up in a Packers household?! I’m pretty sure we inherited them 😉)
  • Twelve Glühwein mugs, now on their way to warm other winter nights

👋 Connection Through Decluttering

In this process, something beautiful happened:

I finally got to meet a woman face-to-face whom I had only interacted with through local Facebook groups. What a joy to put a real smile to a familiar online name!

Even more serendipitous, I met another German—and not just any fellow expat, but someone who, like me, came to the U.S. in 1993. That’s 28 years ago. More than half of my life has now been spent in this adopted country I’ve grown to love. Isn’t it wild how time flies?

📦 Letting Go, Steins and All

Tomorrow, the mission continues:

  • Listing a tableware set
  • Letting go of our Bier Steins and specialty glasses

No rest for the wicked… or the cluttered. 😉

💡 A Little Decluttering Tip

If you’re on the fence about letting something go, here’s a trick that helps:

🗃️ Put it in a box

📦 Store it somewhere out of sight

🕒 Wait one month

If you don’t miss it—don’t touch it—don’t even think about it in that time… it’s time to let it go.

We truly need so much less than we think we do. And what we give away often finds its way to someone who truly needs it.

Thanks for being with me on this journey.

Hugs,

Anke 💙
