Beer Mugs and Glasses…..
🍻 Cheers to Today’s Efforts
Tackling the Kitchen, One Mug at a Time
This week’s assignment in the Unclutter Course has us diving deep into the heart of the home: the kitchen.
I went into this one feeling pretty confident. After all, I had already done a round of kitchen decluttering a few weeks ago. Turns out… that was just a warm-up. 😅
🍽️ Feeding 36? Not This Introvert.
Let’s start with the dishes.
I discovered I had enough to feed a small army—about 36 people, to be exact. For someone who identifies as a total introvert, that number is downright hilarious. I don’t even like dinner parties, let alone hosting Oktoberfest.
Speaking of Oktoberfest… I opened our corner cabinet only to find a collection of:
- Beer mugs
- Beer glasses
- Glühwein (mulled wine) mugs
Apparently, I had been subconsciously planning our very own German Oktoberfest meets Christkindlmarkt—right in our Colorado kitchen. 🍺🎄
Thankfully, my wonderful husband helped me sort through it all. We narrowed it down to six of each. Because really, if we ever need more than that… we’ll just borrow. Or better yet—meet at the real festival.
Next up? Our wine glass collection. Pray for me. 🍷😉
🎸 Passing Things Along
I forgot to write yesterday, but it was a special one.
We got to visit with dear friends who are giving an electric guitar a new home. Letting go—slow and steady—feels so much more meaningful when things go to people we care about.
🧼 Organized Chaos (Before the Calm)
To those of you decluttering with me:
Remember, it often looks worse before it gets better. Pulling all those mugs out today and spreading them across the counters was nerve-racking. My whole kitchen looked like a dish explosion.
But here’s the magic:
Once it’s sorted, donated, and cleared away, the space you gain—physically and emotionally—is incredible. I already feel lighter. More accomplished. More in control of our space and our life.
💛 A Gentle Reminder
Wherever you are in your own journey, please don’t forget to:
- Take breaks
- Breathe
- Care for yourself
Decluttering is hard work—not just physically, but emotionally too. You’re not just sorting things… you’re sorting stories, memories, and dreams.
Here’s to another small victory.
Cheers 🍻 to progress.
Cheers to space.
Cheers to a life with less—but so much more.
Hugs,
Anke
