A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

๐ŸŒผ Letting Go & Looking Ahead

A Saturday Well Spent

Good evening, little world,

It was the perfect kind of Saturday—the kind where we got things done but also found time to rest and breathe.

Today, Ron and I spent a few hours working in the front yard. We tidied up, rearranged a few things, and tackled a task that had been quietly waiting for us: finding a new home for Tasha’s dog house.

Just yesterday, I saw a post on Facebook from someone looking for a dog house—not for a pup, but to help protect her chickens from flying predators. It struck a chord. With Tasha’s recent passing just a couple of weeks ago, we were left with her large, heavy, and beautifully built dog house. Ron had crafted it years ago—insulated, sturdy, and truly made with love.

We knew we no longer needed it, and I couldn’t imagine a better new purpose than giving shelter to someone else’s flock. With the help of the backhoe, we moved it from the back deck to the front yard so it could begin its next chapter.

๐ŸŽฏ One Step at a Time

In the spirit of simplifying, we also:

  • Sold our Foosball table
  • Gave away our small playground set
  • Continued posting items on Facebook Marketplace

It’s funny—I can’t even remember how we managed all this 14 years ago when we were setting up this home. I know I used eBay and Craigslist back then, but now I rarely touch either. Honestly, I find more joy in giving items away than selling them. As an introvert, too many transactional conversations can wear me out. There’s something deeply peaceful about simply passing things along to someone who needs them.

❓A Gentle Question for You

Before I go, I want to leave you with a question:

How many things in your home do you have double or triple of… without really needing them?

Let’s start with something simple:

๐Ÿ› How many towels do you think you actually need?

Now go count. The answer might surprise you.

๐Ÿ’กA Thought to Carry You Into Sunday

As you move into your Sunday, I’ll leave you with a phrase I love:

“Everything is figureoutable.”

Every problem has a solution. We may not always love the options—but there’s always a path forward.

Sending you all lightness, clarity, and hugs,

Anke
